Container Conditions
What's the difference between CWO and WWT?
A Cargo Worthy (CWO) container is certified for international ocean shipping — it has a valid CSC plate and has passed inspection. A Wind & Water Tight (WWT) container is sealed against weather but is NOT certified for export. WWT containers are cheaper and perfectly fine for storage, while CWO is necessary if you plan to ship internationally.
What does 'One-Trip' mean?
A One-Trip container was manufactured (usually in China), loaded once with cargo, shipped to the US, and then sold. These containers are in near-new condition with virtually no dents, original paint, and clean floors. They're the best choice for visible placement and container homes.
What does 'As-Is' mean?
As-Is containers are sold without guarantees. They may have significant cosmetic damage such as dents, rust, or small holes. They're the most affordable option and ideal for DIY projects, fencing, and non-critical storage where appearance isn't a concern.
How long do containers last?
Steel shipping containers typically last 25+ years with minimal maintenance. Even used containers rated Wind & Watertight can last another 10-15 years of outdoor use in Oklahoma's climate. Proper placement on a level surface and occasional touch-up paint extend lifespan significantly.
Delivery & Placement
How much does delivery cost?
Delivery is a $150 flat rate within 25 miles of Broken Arrow. Beyond that, it costs $4.50-$6.00 per mile depending on the route. We use professional tilt-bed trucks and handle placement on your property.
What surface should the container sit on?
Containers can be placed on gravel, concrete, railroad ties, or compacted earth. The key requirement is a level surface — this ensures proper door operation and structural integrity. We can advise on the best option for your property during delivery consultation.
How much space do I need for delivery?
You'll need at least 12 feet wide entry and adequate length for the delivery truck to maneuver. Our drivers are experienced and can work with most properties, but tight spaces may require special arrangements. Call us to discuss your site.
Do you deliver to neighboring states?
Yes, we deliver to Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, and Texas. Call us for long-distance pricing and scheduling.
Permits & Regulations
Do I need a permit in Broken Arrow?
Residential container placement may require a zoning permit. We recommend checking with the City of Broken Arrow Development Services before purchasing. Rural and agricultural land in Tulsa County usually does not require permits for container placement.
Can I put a container in my backyard?
It depends on local zoning regulations. Many areas allow containers, especially for temporary storage. Be sure to check your HOA rules as well — some homeowner associations have restrictions on storage structures. When in doubt, contact your local planning office.
Modifications
Can you modify containers?
Yes! We offer custom modifications including roll-up doors, personnel doors, windows, insulation, electrical wiring, and paint. Whether you need a simple roll-up door added or a full custom build-out, we can help. Contact us for modification pricing.
Can I convert a container into a home?
Absolutely. Container homes are increasingly popular across Oklahoma. One-Trip containers are the best choice for homes due to their near-new condition, clean interiors, and solid floors. You'll need to check local building codes and obtain the appropriate permits for residential conversion.
